You Know You're Trans* When...

Q:What does the asterisk after the word 'trans' mean?

Anonymous

After recieving a few messages asking whether we would consider putting an asterisk in, we put it to vote. The majority felt that ‘trans*’ was more inclusive than ‘trans’ and that would be the perferred terminology to use.

Trans* is taken generally to mean: Transgender, Transsexual, genderqueer, Non-Binary, Genderfluid, Genderfuck, Intersex, Third gender, Transvestite, Cross-dresser, Bi-gender, Trans man, Trans woman, Agender. Whereas ‘trans’ could have been taken to mean the blog only applies to trans men and trans women. We wanted more people to feel included in submitting posts and the blog as a whole.
